General Information Situated in an elevated yet sheltered location on Corbar Hill, Wellwood lodge is south facing with embracing views over Buxton toward the limestone hills of the White Peak.
Looking across and beyond the fascinating architectural features for which Buxton is famed, including the Dome and Georgian Crescent lies Buxton Country Park topped by Grin Low with the folly of Solomon’s Temple as a distant landmark, whilst behind Wellwood lodge Corbar Hill rises up to Corbar cross on the summit.
There is a terrace style garden at the rear with a small lawn and an outdoor sitting area which captures the afternoon sun. The roof of the double garage also doubles as a patio to catch the earlier sun's rays. A path with handrail ascends from the pavement, (no steps). Wellwood lodge is the ideal holiday base for the larger party, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. A particular delight is being able to walk into the countryside from the door, a reservoir and surrounding woodlands provide for a scenic stroll just around the corner, by traversing the many footpaths one can access heather moorlands in a half days excursion.
Wellwood lodge is a five minute walk from the hustle and bustle of this thriving, up-and-coming, cultural capital town of the Peak District. Buxton is not only packed with quality shops and restaurants offering a cosmopolitan choice of cuisine but it also provides manicured parks and serpentine walks, heritage sites, galleries, a museum and even an Edwardian opera house, which hosts many fine shows, concerts and festivals, most notably the Opera and Gilbert and Sullivan festivals in July and August and the festival of Jazz in February.
Trains and buses depart from the town to all the many and varied attractions of the Peak District making Wellwood lodge the ideal holiday location even if you dont arrive by car, and if you do you can let the train take the strain! Within half an hours drive you can visit stately homes, caverns, walking and biking trails, museums, open countryside and a myriad of other places to suit all ages, whatever the weather there is a huge variety of ways to enjoy oneself.
