Gloucester House is believed to have been built in 1790 as a rather grand residence becoming a hotel as late as the 1960's. It is now a grade two listed building and forms part of Weymouth's superb sweeping seafront with spectacular uninterrupted views of the bay.
Gloucester House is ideally situated for Weymouth beach which is literally across the road. The town centre is on their door step and both the railway station and bus station are only two minutes level walk away. Greenhill Gardens and Lodmoor Park are a few minutes to their left while the charming harbour and Nothe Gardens are five to ten minutes by foot to our right.
The resident proprietors Monica & Melvin Curtis are pleased to offer their guests bed and breakfast accommodation in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere making your stay comfortable and enjoyable, leaving with a wish to return.
With thirty years experience in hospitality Monica and Melvin enjoy Weymouth and its people as well as the beautiful surrounding area. They particularly look forward to welcoming guests both new and old to “the town house by the sea”.
All their rooms have colour television, radio, alarm clock and tea and coffee making facilities, and en-suite bath or shower rooms. You may prefer the sea view rooms, some with their own balcony, or the intimacy of a peaceful attic room, or even a quiet twin ground floor room.
Their family rooms sleep up to four people with a double and two single beds, they also have several triple rooms along side doubles and twins plus two single rooms. They also have a ground floor mini-suite with a double bed.
The guest house has just seven steps up from the street. Their bedrooms are situated over four floors adding to the character of a Georgian town house. If you wish to reserve a particular room for any reason please contact them by telephone to make your reservation so that they can guarantee appropriate room allocation.
Several rooms have a sea view and some enjoy a balcony. You have access at all times during your stay with your own keys.
A generous breakfast can be taken in our charming dining room situated on the lower ground floor. Choosing from a large selection of cereals and fruit juices, yogurts, porridge, mixed grill and all the traditional favourites.
