The Cottage Tahoe is a two bedroom cottage, built 20 years ago on the site of a single storey shop. It shares the charm of the old cottages on either side, but it has all the comforts of a modern building. Accommodation Details The sitting room has two comfortable two-seater sofas, "living coal" fire, tv with freeview, cd player, video player and a large collection of books of all kinds. There are several fine paintings and a questionable collection of pots and statues. A conservatory has been added to the back of the house which provides another comfortable, light and airy seating area with a small sofa and two armchairs. Here there is a collection of walking books, maps and information about the local area. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer and washer. The dining table is by the front window, and the kitchen door opens into the back garden. There is a staircase which leads to the larger garden, which runs along the back of the cottage, and part of the cottage next door, at roof height. The sunny garden is sheltered by a wall on two sides and has a patio with garden furniture, a lawn and flower beds. Each bedroom has a double bed, and ample storage space, with windows overlooking the valley. The newly refitted shower room has a superb walk-in shower, vanity unit and wc. Additional Information * One well behaved dog is welcome. * Parking is on the road outside the cottage. * Sorry, but smoking is not permitted. Location Tahoe is on a quiet lane on the edge of Tideswell. There are no buildings opposite and there is a secluded walled garden along the back of the cottage. The village centre, with pubs, cafes, newsagent, chemist, Post Office and a small supermarket are five minutes (400m) stroll away. The Parish Church is known, because of its size and splendour, as the “Cathedral of the Peak”. Tideswell is an ideal centre for exploring Derbyshire and the White Peak. There are local walks, only a few minutes drive away, on the old railway tracks along the Wye Valley. Further afield (15 minutes drive) are delightful little towns like Castleton, with its castle and caverns, and Bakewell, with its quiet river and bustling market. A little further away (20 minutes drive) is Chatsworth House, and the less famous but equally beautiful Haddon Hall. The area is noted for climbing, pot-holing and longer distance walking.
